Liverpool makes contact over the signing of £13 million rated youngster midfielder
Liverpool have held talks with OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram over a potential transfer, according to FootballTransfers.com.
The report added that the Reds have suffered a big blow as Atalanta will refuse to sell target Teun Koopmeiners this month.
Therefore, Jurgen Klopp will need to look elsewhere if he is to secure a midfield addition in January.
Whilst the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Nunes have been touted for the summer, the Merseyside outfit have been on the lookout for immediate signings.
Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach and teenage sensation Thuram from Nice, have communicated with Liverpool, according to FootballTransfers.com.
L’Equipe have suggested that the Ligue 1 outfit set a £13m price tag for the youngster last summer.
Thuram, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall, would be a powerful presence in Klopp’s midfield.
Liverpool currently appears rather weak in the middle of the field and appears unable to make a tackle.
As a result, the 21-year-old would slot in perfectly, perhaps coming in for the tired-looking Fabinho in the defensive midfield position.
Son of France legend Lilian Thuram, the youngster’s brother, Marcus – who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, has also been linked with a move to Anfield in recent times.
However, it now appears the younger of the two brothers is the likelier target for the Reds to pursue, as they navigate a crisis in their midfield.
Thuram has played in every single Ligue 1 and Europa Conference League fixture for Nice this season.
At age 21, it seems the Frenchman would be the best fit for Liverpool, who need to add a reliable player to their lineup in the middle of the park.
