Jeep Avenger 2023 new electric car review, pictures, UK price

The Avenger is the first of four new battery-electric Jeeps arriving before 2025. The small SUV will be followed by a Cherokee, a Wagoneer and a Wrangler-like model called Recon. It’s not great-looking; you might wonder if it was “touched by the wand of blandness”, said The Daily Telegraph. But still, for a first effort from Jeep, it is really not bad – compact without being cramped and economical without being cheap.

Inside, Jeep has made the Avenger “class-leading” for storage space, with plenty of cubby-holes, a tray that covers two-thirds of the dashboard for your phone, keys, etc, said What Car?. There are two 10.3in screens (one for the driver and one for infotainment) with “slick” graphics and smartphone mirroring. The materials inside are “average” for the class, and it’s quite compact: it fits five adults, but not that comfortably.

Whilst “purists may scoff at the idea of a front-drive, pure-electric off-roader”, Jeep has done a good job in preserving the marque’s “go-anywhere” spirit, said Auto Express. Steering is fast and it’s stable on corners. There’s a 54kWh battery, made up of ten modules under the rear seats and seven under the front. Rapid charging will take you from 20% to 80% in 24 minutes, and the range is between 249 and 342 miles. UK price from £34,000.
