A WOMAN has shared the brutally honest remarks she gets as a plus-sized lady in Germany, but they won’t bring her down.
The body-positivity advocate told about the harrowing experiences to explain why it’s never okay to body shame.
Known as @curvesonabundance on TikTok, the self-love and mindset coach Bel gives viewers a little look into the inappropriate size-related comments she receives as a plus-size woman in Germany.
The 17-second video on the platform is meant to shed light on the size inequalities and discrimination plus-size women experience on almost a daily basis.
Bel offers self-love personalized coaching programs, an online course, free confidence training, and a free self-love guide, among more opportunities.
Appropriately captioned, “That’s the reality”, Bel offers real-life situations and scenarios to further her point with comments she’s received about her body shape.
At the start of the video, Bel is wearing light nude high-waisted jogger pants paired with a dark nude tie-front crop top and long flowing sleeves.
She is standing outside in what appears to be a public park and is just swaying and smiling at the camera, as she tucks her thumbs into the front of her pants
The outfit seems like a typical outfit someone would wear while out and about, but it seems to be a cause for controversy due to her size.
She proceeds to show stock images of groups of people with negative comments written around them to represent the unwarranted messages people say about her.
The song playing throughout the video is Miami, My Amy by Keith Whitley, a popular TikTok sound commonly used to help tell a story.
The first photo she shows to viewers is an image of a group of young girls sitting on a park bench as if they are judging her with the phrase “Have you seen what she is wearing?” written above it.
The second set of comments she shares are significantly ruder.
“Omg look at her…oink oink”, the words read on the screen above an image of a group of men, meant to represent the negative comments she receives from them.
The next comment she shares is associated with an image of a beautiful, blonde woman who seems to live a life of luxury, abundance, and glamour.
“You should lose at least 100 pounds before you wear something like that,” the subtitles on the video read above the image.
The last image she displays to make viewers aware of her common mistreatment is an aesthetically athletic and fit man sensually posing in his underwear, covered in body hair.
“You should lower your standards and be grateful that I would take you,” the words on the image read.
The improper body-shaming comments only show a fraction of what Bel and other plus-size women go through as they navigate life.
The stress of dealing with it so often can play a harsh role on one’s mental health, and that is why the mindset coach works so hard to promote self-love.
Though these are only a few messages Bel shares in the video, the words related to many, and the comment section reflected that.
“The same in Czech Republic… so I guess it’s an European things,” one user wrote.
“Girl you aren’t lying. They’re brutal over there,” another commented in agreement.
“Same growing up in France/Belgium. Moved to Canada 4 years ago and I have peace now,” another added.
