Elderly woman hit by E-bike on Hartburn Lane in Stockton

A man is assisting police with inquiries after an elderly woman hit by an ‘E-bike’ was left seriously injured.

The woman, who in her late 70s, was making her way to her vehicle and fell to the ground after the collision sustaining serious internal and head injuries.

She was taken to James Cook University Hospital undergoing treatment, but the rider made off from the scene after the incident at around 12.55pm on Thursday, January 12, on Hartburn Lane in Stockton.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Following an earlier appeal to trace a male after an elderly woman sustained injuries in a collision on Hartburn Lane, a man has been identified and is assisting police with their enquiries.

“Further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.

“The injured lady is still a hospital inpatient and is in a stable condition.”
