Celtic Football Club announce details of Frank McGarvey’s funeral

Fans have been invited to virtually attend Celtic icon Frank McGarvey’s funeral tomorrow.

The former Hoops and St Mirren striker died aged 66, surrounded by family on New Year’s Day. 

Now fans can say their goodbyes by viewing the funeral online via link at 1pm on Monday, January 16.

Glasgow Times:

Celtic Football Club announced the details and said their “thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family and friends of Frank”.

The ex-Buddies legend was diagnosed with cancer back in October.

He appeared at Celtic Park to a rousing reception for the club’s fixture against Hibs a matter of days later.

McGarvey was visibly moved with emotion as he was accompanied by family members on the Parkhead pitch.

An emotional rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ was played too.

McGarvey scored a stunning 109 goals in well over 200 appearances for the Hoops.

As well as playing for Celtic, St Mirren – over two spells – and boasting seven caps for Scotland, McGarvey turned out for Clyde and Queen of the South.
