Bolton takeaways, cafes and pubs handed top food hygiene ratings

Food hygiene inspectors have given seven Bolton restaurants and take-aways the highest possible rating.

All seven premises visited scored  five-out-of-five in the latest round of inspections.

Examining food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety, inspectors gave Cube Desserts, Halliwell Café, Taste of Greece, Hogarths, ZumuSushi, D&L Sumner Quality Fish & Chips and KFC, all five ‘stars’.

Cube Desserts Ltd at 192 Halliwell Road, Bolton was awarded the rating after inspection on December 18.

The inspection report states the hygienic food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety are all good.

Halliwell Cafe at 465 Halliwell Road, Bolton was also awarded five after it was inspected on December 18.

The inspection report states all areas of inspection were good.

Taste of Greece at 7-9 Churchgate, Bolton was handed the top rating after inspection on December 11.

The hygienic food handling and the management of food safety were both rated very good in the inspection reports whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building were rated good.

Hogarths at 37-41 Churchgate, Bolton was rated five-out-of-five after inspection on December 11.

The inspection report states the hygienic food handling, the management of food safety and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building were all good.

Manager of Hogarths, Steve Hoyle, said it is fantastic news to be handed a five-out-of-five rating.

He said: “Our new rating is all down to the staff, it feels fantastic to have this rating.

“It’s great to know the staff always prioritise hygiene and we follow a strict hygiene rule and all the staff follow this by using a cleaning rota and its nice to see all the staff are keeping on top of it.

“It’s great to see we got a five, customers can always expect a friendly atmosphere, good products and clean glasses.”

ZumuSushi Bolton at 812 Bury Road, Bolton was handed a five after inspection on December 29.

The inspection report states the hygienic food handling was very good whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety were both good.

D & L Sumner Quality Fish & Chips at 188 Arnold Street, Bolton was also rated five on December 17.

The Fish and Chip shop was rated good for the hygienic food handling and whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and was rated very good for management of food safety.

Finally, KFC at Unit 1, Waters Meeting Road, Bolton was handed a five after inspection on December 11.

The hygienic food handling was rated very good in the inspection report whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety were both rated good.

Bolton Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Hilary Fairclough, said: “The Food Hygiene Rating system helps Bolton residents make informed decisions about where they eat or buy their food. 

“Our Environmental Health Officers do an outstanding job keeping the public safe by visiting premises, carrying out inspections and making sure the right measures are in place.

“We support business owners to achieve and maintain good hygiene standards, and it is pleasing to see so many have recently earned the highest possible rating.”
