Astley Bridge: Hundreds of homes left without power

According to Electricity North West (ENW), 456 homes in Astley Bridge have been without power since 6.30am today, Tuesday December 27.

These postcodes have been affected by the unplanned cut:

BL1 6PH, BL1 6PF, BL1 3LS, BL1 8NT, BL1 6PG, BL1 6PY, BL1 3LX, BL1 6PP, BL1 6PE, BL1 6NX, BL1 6PS, BL1 6NZ, BL1 3LT, BL1 8NU, BL1 6PD, BL1 6PL, BL1 6PT, BL1 6JN, BL1 6NY, BL1 3LY, BL1 6PA, BL1 6QN, BL1 3LU, BL1 8QN, BL1 6QL, BL1 6PW, BL1 6PJ, BL1 6PQ, BL1 6PR, BL1 8QG, BL1 6PZ.

ENW say that the cut has been caused by an ‘unexpected incident’ on high voltage power cables in the area.

Power is estimated to come back on in the area at 9.31am today, with engineers currently on site.

ENW say that because the incident is a high voltage power cut, they are often able to get many of the homes involved back on before the estimated time of restoration.

A spokesperson from Electricity North West said: “An underground cable fault caused 549 properties in Bolton to lose power at 6.31am this morning.

“Our engineers are currently on site and have restored 460 properties already, and are working hard to restore power to the remaining 89 properties.

“If anyone needs any more information during a power cut, they can follow Electricity North West on Twitter or Facebook, see live power cut updates at www.enwl.co.uk/powercuts or call us on 105.”

This comes after a similar power cut last week in Smithills and Heaton which left 461 homes without power.
